Frequently Asked Questions

What file types can I upload for IEP analysis?

PDF, Word documents, and photos or scans of a printed IEP. Scanned and photographed documents are read with OCR, so a phone picture of a paper IEP works. Upload the full document rather than single pages — the analysis compares sections against each other, so a partial upload gives a partial answer.

How long does an IEP analysis take?

Under a minute for most documents. Longer IEPs with many goals and service pages can take a little more. You do not need to stay on the page; the analysis finishes and is saved to your account.

Is my child's information secure?

Yes. Documents and personal information are encrypted in transit and at rest. Your child's records are never shared without your explicit consent, and your data is never used to train AI models.

I forgot my password. How do I get back in?

Use the 'Forgot password' link on the sign-in page. We email a reset link to the address on your account. If the email does not arrive within a few minutes, check spam, then contact support@myiephero.com and we will help you directly.

What do I get for free?

You can create an account with no credit card, add your child's profile, upload an IEP or 504 plan, and get an AI analysis. Paid parent plans are Premium at $49/month and Hero at $99/month, both cheaper billed yearly. Premium triples the free limits; Hero is unlimited.

Does My IEP Hero work for 504 plans?

Yes. The analysis, document vault, communication tracker, and advocate network all support Section 504 plans as well as IEPs. The AI understands 504 accommodations and flags gaps the same way it does for an IEP.

How do I connect with an advocate?

Advocate matching is available on paid parent plans. You describe your situation and state, and we match you with certified advocates who work in your area. Every advocate is credentialed and verified before joining the platform.

Which states do you support?

All 50 states. Federal IDEA law sets the floor, but many states have shorter timelines or extra parental rights, so our state guides cover the specific rules where you live.

Can My IEP Hero give me legal advice?

No. The analysis explains what your child's IEP says, where it is vague, and what to ask about — it is educational, not legal advice. If you are heading toward mediation or due process, you want a special education attorney.
